When we watch a movie, there must be a scene or two that gets stuck in our mind for a long time. The kind of scenes that was able to evoke the feelings that we can relate to. I am going to share some of my personal favorite scenes from various movies that I had watched in my life. These scenes moved me in different ways; some made me cry, some made me go jaw-struck, while some made me feel warm and happy inside.

  • Titanic

This was the movie that made me think about the topic. Personally, I don’t like this movie. It’s very long and some scenes were exaggerated. However, there is a particularly scene that always held me captivated. This scene was during the time Jack and Cal watched Rose being lowered down in the safety boat. The music, mood, background, everything was perfect. You just wished they all got into their boat and live happily ever after.

  • Armageddon

This is one of my favorite end-of-the-day flicks. Right down to the effects, acting, and music – Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing”. The scene which made me go all ‘wow’ was when Bruce Willis and his crew plus the astronauts were going to the space shuttle. They were undertaking perhaps the most perilous journey in their lives yet they look so calm. And everyone there was saluting them, giving them the honour they deserve, plus the President’s speech. I could really feel the mood there. Wow.

  • Daisy

I do watch Asian movies and I do have some favorite Asian movies. One of them is Daisy, a Korean movie. I watched this movie by accident. The whole movie was innovative. The storyline is freaking damn awesome. The way they tell the story from the 3 main characters POV and I got to admit, Korean men can cry! The scene which moves my sister to tears and is one of the most powerful scenes for me was when the girl took the bullet for the guy and the song kicks in. Prepare to bring in tissue paper. I strongly recommend this film.

  • Devdas

This is to me one of the best love movies! It’s an epic tale of two tragic lovers, their love so strong only in death could they unite. Starring the king and queen of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai, with Sanjay Leela Bhansali directing – this is perhaps one of the best Hindi movie ever! The set, cinematography and music enhance the movie to a greater height. I got a lot of favourite scenes here but the best is probably the ending. It is one of the rare movies with a powerful ending. Watching the video is not enough, watch the full movie! Be a Devdas!

Okay, those were just some of my favourite scenes. Special mentions to;

Ø Kal Ho Naa Ho – Whole movie!

Ø Remember the Titans – The famous cheer scene

Ø We Were Soldiers – the famous speech by Col. Hal Moore

Ø And many more

I feel that powerful scenes that can move the audiences are crucial in all movies. Even if the movie is bad, due to story or character or technicalities, there must be a scene that audiences can remember the movie, even if it’s the worst scene ever. So long as people can remember your movie. If you have your own favorite scenes, do share!

In the words of Harry Callahan “You feelin’ lucky, punk!”

Till next week then!

    It’s great that you appreciate individual scenes from movies. Often, we tend to remember movies as a whole and forget dynamic scenes.
