People Watch

This week, yours truly became a spy. My assignment was to observe the way a person act or behaves. Luckily, I worked with the CIA once and know the proper way to spy on people. So, off I went to spy on the general public.

Target 1
Code Name: Green Boy

I was at the interchange, waiting for the bus to arrive to go to school when I saw Green Boy. I actually missed the bus by a few seconds because I was lazy to run after it. So, I stood at one corner while waiting for the bus. This serves a few purposes. When you stand at a corner, you get a larger picture of what is happening around you. Rule number 1 in spying, be aware of your surrounding. Also, your back is not exposed so people cannot attack you from behind. I give you a tip, do not hear any music. This will distract you and you will not be aware of your surroundings. I was just gazing around when I saw Green Boy. He did not attract me at first. He appears to be wearing a school uniform so I assumed he was going back from school. At first glance, I notice he was Malay, bald, pouty lips, and untidy. After a few minutes, my eyes went back to him.

He was talking to himself. Okay, maybe he was trying to remember what answer he wrote for his chemistry paper just now (this being the mid-year exam period for school students). But he continued talking, to no one in particular. And he was getting louder by the minute. Case closed: autistic person. I re-looked at his uniform and true enough, it was a uniform for special people. People were beginning to stare at him too. Some aunties look in disdained at him. I guess he was either oblivious or he didn’t really care. His hand covered his ears and he smiled as he continued talking animatedly. By then, he had attracted quite a number of people. I think he realized it and began to move away. My bus arrived and I lost sight of the Green Boy. Green because his uniform is green.

Target 2
Code Name: Pretty Girl

I stood at a corner in the MRT station. Remember rule number 1? There was quite a number of people, being a Saturday and people are not working or schooling. Amid all those people, my attention was fixed on this lady. She was sitting down and looked displeased. She is Chinese, around my age, got long hair, which reaches till her shoulder and fringe which covers half her forehead. She had light make-up on her face, her powder visible and her lips a touch of redish pink. She was wearing a black dress and…. okay I don’t know what is it since I am a guy and these are girl clothes. She was pretty, attracting a few stares from some guys there. And me too.

She kept looking at her watch every now and then. She glazed sideways and gave a sigh. From the looks of it, she was waiting for someone and the person was late. She took out her handphone. I assumed she wanted to call her friend or sms them, but actually, she played a game. I infer that the person is usually late and this was pretty normal for her. After 5 minutes, I counted the time, she looked really angry. She glazed sideways again and looked at her watch. She stood up and began pacing a bit. She took her handphone and pressed for a while. So, she’s sending and sms to that person. A loud ringtone filled the place. She heard it, and began to look around when she finally saw me. I waved my handphone at her and smiled. Yes, I was the person she was waiting for.

This week, I received update for my new mission. I am suppose to create an identity for my two targets, plus giving them an address. I am also suppose to make a story involving the both of them.

Target 1
Name: Syam Noor Bin Ramlee
Address: Block 707 Pasir Ris Drive 10

Target 2: Tan Hui Ying
Address: Block 118 Ang Mo Kio Street 2

It was raining heavily. Hui Ying was running towards the interchange. She was getting wetter by the minute. She finally reached the interchange. Due to the rain, many people ended up taking the bus so the interchange was pretty packed.

Hui Ying took out a packet of tissue and began cleaning herself. She wiped her face dry. In the midst of cleaning her arm, her sling bag slipped off her shoulder and fell on the ground. The things inside the bag were scattered around. Getting panicked by the second, she quickly bends down to pick up her stuff.

She then saw a pair of hands helping her to retrieve her items. She tilted her head up to see a guy, with a toothy smile handing her items back to her. Mumbling a quick word of thanks, she grabbed back all her items from his hand. The guy just smiled at her and began to walk away.

Somehow, the guy’s face was vaguely familiar but Hui Ying cannot put her finger to where she saw him before. After wiping herself dry, she went to queue for her bus. All the time, the face of the guy keep appearing in her mind. She keeps on guessing and guessing but could not find the right answer.

Her bus finally arrived and as she was boarding, she saw the same guy. Hui Ying noticed that he was talking to himself. It was then that it hits on Hui Ying where she knows the guy.

As the bus moves away from the station, she thought about what happen a few years ago. Hui Ying and the guy, Syam, were once classmates in secondary school. Syam suffers from mild autism, making him talks to himself and having a mild speech impediment. But he still can learn like an ordinary person.

Hui Ying and her classmates love to bully Syam because he was powerless against them. They would disturb him by imitating the way he talks, call name him and to the extent of hiding his books. Although Syam knows he is being bullied, he just smiled and continue to jokes with his classmates, who look at him in disdain.

One day, Hui Ying and her classmates planned to prank Syam. They wanted to to steal his pants after PE to humiliate him. The plan was a success, or it was an over-success. Syam started to run around the school half naked. Of course, this attracted the attention of the entire school.

The perpretators, Hui Ying and her classmates were caught of course. For the first time, their form teacher realised that they had been bullying Syam. All of their parents were called down. They all felt ashamed of themselves. Due to that incident, Syam’s parents transferred him to another school. Hui Ying never got the chance to apologise to Syam about what she had done to him in the past.

Now, all grown up and wiser, Hui Ying planned to go to the interchange on the same time the next week. She would look Syam up and apologise to him. Life is to short, you should not live with regrets!

I like that you’re pretending to be part of the CIA. So basically you kept the pretty girl waiting just to complete the assignment? Wow, the things you do for work!

Yeah I love the CIA though I do not think I can work there. I did keep the girl waiting for about 15 minutes. And she was angry with me of course. I felt unfair because I waited longer for her on multiple times. Haha.
